Hello,
I am glad to write this testimonial, especially because is the first testimonial I have ever written, although I was - for about 3 years now - a member of different e-groups that asked for testimonials.
Okay, so that you’ve got me writing, let me tell you how your book has changed my life! It really did. I am recomending it to everyone I know. There are so many RTP parents out there. Now, I wasn’t one of them (LOL-laugh out loud), but from time to time, when I was tired or when I ran out of solutions for my kids, I would yell at them and ask them why what I say doesn’t stick to them or why they don’t do what I tell them right away?
Well, this book came, and I realized that there are methods that really work FOR the kids and the parents. I learned to listen better to my kids, to understand their childish way of thinking, and to really have... (More...)

Hi
We have just finished our first week with a points chart for our 9 year
old daughter. We have coupled this with a time out regime for
bad/inappropriate behaviour together with the risk of loss of
privileges for really bad behaviour (yelling and screaming or hitting
etc). It is early days yet, but so far it seems to be going well and
we are certainly all more relaxed most of the time, which makes a huge
difference. The main problems which we were experiencing were as
follows:
Poor sleep patterns (difficulty going to sleep, getting up in the night
with “phantom pains” then tiredness and grumpiness!)
Tantrums
Crying over just about everything
Problems in getting ready (for school or bed) within an appropriate
timescale
At present it is still school holidays, so we haven’t got the same
deadlines most days, in terms of being ready for school, but overall
our daughter now seems willing/able to tell the time (she has been able
for a while,... (More...)
Mr. Swanson,
I just wanted to thank you. In three days my sons behavior has changed
completely. I am no longer yelling and we have peace at home. He loves
earning the points and is trying real hard to earn his first reward. Thank
you again for such a wonderful book and ideas.

My son is having trouble finishing out the school year so I have decided
to start putting into practice what I have read starting the first day
of School Summer Vacation. I have read that things might get worse
before better, so I want to start when he is not coping with school
also.
He pulls A- to A+ grades but his behavior pulls him down to B and B-.
His whole class is head strong kids and pick on each other to the point
of tears at times. I am hoping that this summer (which begins May 27th
- last day of school) will be very productive for both of us.
Thank you for your time and concern. I am on chapter 7 (reading between
working) and have found that most of the information so far is exactly
what my son is doing or trying and I am caught in most of the traps in
the book.

Good Morning Noel,
Great gift, thanks
Ive fallen into the catagory, i’m surprised how easy it is. The teahcers at school also see a difference. THE KIDS LOVE THE CHOORS AND A REWARD, ESPEIALLY WHEN THEY DON’T EXPECT IT.
We have had all meals at the table and are actually learning to have a discussion, rather than, I can’t remember what we did, or i’m borred.
Good struff
regards
Evelien

HELLO THERE,
WELL I WAS A LITTLE SKEPTICAL DURING THE PURCHASE TIME OF THE “GOOD CHILD GUIDE” BUT I READ IT QUITE QUICKLY AND FOUND THAT MANY OF THE ISSUES THAT I HAVE WITH MY DAUGHTER (8) WERE STEMED FROM THE WAY I AND MY WIFE WOULD HANDLE THE SITUATIONS. NOW IM NOT SAYING THAT WE ARE TOTALLY TO BLAME, BECAUSE THE SITUATION/ISSUE WOULD START AND OUR PUNISHMENTS WOULDNT DEFUSE THE SITUATION BUT ENFLAME IT. WE HAVE PUT THE RWARD SYSTEM INTO FULL EFFECT. REWARDING HER WITH POKER CHIPS EVERYTIME SHE DOES SOMETHING POSITIVE. THEY ADD UP PRETTY QUICK AND WHEN SHE HAS 5 SHE CAN REDEEM THE FOR T.V., GAME BOY, DESERT OR SOMETHING ELSE FUN AND NEAT. tHE 1-2-3 MAGIC HAS WORKED WELL, BUT HAS NOT BEEN NEEDED OFTEN WHICH IS GOOD.
THANK YOU FOR THE TURN IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!
YOURS TRULY,
PAUL PASQUALE

I did get it thank you. I dont know if you read these but I was a total RTP parent and I have applied that single principle by not repeating myself and it has changed things already. I find your examples great and cant wait to read this all and digest and use it.
I thought you were just some “dummy” academic with a Ph.D. who decided to write a book but it is not the case - your book is great thus far at least and I cant imagine that it won’t be better!
Thank you.

Noel,
I just wanted to write you and let you know that your book and tips have really been beneficial to us!!! I have applied your techniques and things have changed almost instantaneously!!! Your last newsletter really opened my eyes to what has been going on and gave me the drive to take back control and do something about my sons behavior. I can see now what I have been doing wrong. To sum it all up, consistency! I am a single, full-time working, mother of 3 children and I never had enough time in a day. With 3 children (12, 6 and 2), I am pulled in 3 different directions and sometimes at the same time!!! I realized that I constantly give in to my sons wants just to not have to “deal” with him. I know now that it is wrong and in order to correct his behavior, I have to alter mine! I... (More...)
